The League of Women Voters of Berks County will show Groundswell Rising at their October Hot Topics luncheon on October 21 at 12pm at the Wyomissing Restaurant and Bakery. A shorter version of the film will be viewed, followed by a question and answer session featuring Mark Lichty, Executive Producer of the film.
Groundswell Rising: Protecting Our Children's Air and Water captures the passion and courage of people engaged in a David and Goliath confrontation, who stand together, challenging a system that promotes profit over health. We meet mothers, fathers, scientists, doctors, farmers, and people from all sides of the political spectrum taking a hard stand against energy extraction techniques not proven to be safe.
This film explores the moral and ethical issues caused by the harmful and largely unregulated fracking industry. Groundswell Rising focuses on the people in the fractivist movement. The film embraces a “yes, we can attitude.” It was directed and produced by Renard and Matt Cohen of Emmy Award-winning Resolution Pictures, Mark Lichty, Executive Producer, and Dave Walczak, Associate Producer.
