Post-screening discussion

Groundswell Rising: protecting our children's air & water (70 min. 2014), the new documentary from Resolution Pictures, captures the passion of people engaged in a David and Goliath confrontation. They stand together, challenging a system that promotes profit over health. We meet mothers, fathers, scientists, doctors, farmers and people from all sides of the political spectrum taking a hard look at energy extraction techniques not proven to be safe. Enormous amounts of our precious water is being used to extract gases deep within the earth. With the Oil and Gas industry's expansion of fracking seen as a moral issue, this provocative documentary tracks the peoples movement, a Groundswell Rising dealing with climate change and making the transition to sustainable energy. See the film at the Unitarian Universalists Community of the Mountains, 246 Church Street, in Grass Valley Friday August 28 at 7:00 p.m. Suggested donation $6-$10, no one turned away. Come enjoy the film, and stay for the lively facilitated discussion to follow. Organic popcorn & refreshments will be available.
